Cedarwood Essential Oil holds a mild, sweet, woodsy scent and is very calming, affecting our moods.  Cedarwood has been valued by the Native Americans for its healing and purification properties. They used it for a variety of ailments including the treatment of respiratory infections, arthritis, skin rashes, psoriasis, dandruff, hair loss, oily hair, and kidney infections. Cedarwood Essential Oil was also used in some ceremonies for purification.  We use Cedarwood Essential Oil in our Bug Shield to repel insects. The scent of cedarwood is also a repellent against rats, mosquitoes, moths, and woodworms.  Cedarwood Essential Oil, has also been used to calm nervous tension and anxiety, and is useful in treating hemorrhoids.

Description: The Virginia Cedarwood is a slow-growing, coniferous evergreen, reaching about 108 feet tall. It has reddish heartwood and bears brown cones.

Color: Pale yellow to golden brown

Consistency: Thin

Aromatic Scent: Cedarwood scent is  and woody, sometimes reminiscent of sandalwood.

Strength of Aroma: Strong

Blends well with: Rosewood, Bergamot, Cypress, Cassia, Chamomile, Jasmine, Juniper, Neroli, Labdanum, Lavender, Lemon, Patchouli, Palmarosa, Frankincense, Clary Sage, Vetiver, Rosemary, Ylang Ylang.

Important Note: Cederwood (Virginian) Oil contains 20% Cedrol which may cause the oil to crystallize over time or in cooler temperatures. The melting point of Cedrol is 86º Celsius. If crystallization does take place, by gently heating the oil, the cedrol liquefies and its solubility is improved for a period of time.
